Nexo Dividend: From Profit Sharing to Daily Interest
Nexo originally shared 30% of net profits with NEXO token holders via periodic dividends. After a community governance vote on 8 June 2021, the platform replaced that model with Daily Interest on NEXO tokens (and the broader Earn / Savings products). Rates below reflect public data from Nexo’s earn pages as of the latest site scrape (Q1–Q3 2026 marketing cycle); always confirm live rates in the Nexo app.
Historic Dividend Distributions
| Distribution | Date | Total Payout (USD) | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1st Dividend | 15 Dec 2018 | $912,471 | Inaugural profit-share distribution |
| 2nd Dividend | 15 Aug 2019 | $2,409,574 | Base + loyalty components |
| 3rd Dividend | 15 Aug 2020 | $6,127,981.39 | Prior peak annual-style payout |
| 4th & Final Dividend | 16 Jun 2021 | $20,428,359.89 | 30% of net profit (30 Jun 2020 – 30 May 2021); +233% vs 3rd dividend; last payout after vote to switch to daily interest |
- Lifetime shared via dividends: ~$30 million across four distributions (2018–2021).
- Governance vote (8 Jun 2021): Community preferred daily interest (then marketed up to 12% APY on NEXO) over annual dividends.
- Record / transition: Final dividend eligibility snapshot aligned with the 8 Jun 2021 transition; cash distribution executed 16 Jun 2021.
Current Program: Interest on NEXO Tokens
There is no ongoing cash dividend. Holders earn interest when they opt in to Nexo Savings, maintain the platform minimum portfolio balance, and meet product rules. Official loyalty copy states holders can receive up to 9% annual interest on NEXO held in Savings and Credit Line wallets.
| NEXO Product | Base / Flexible APY | Term Boost | Illustrative Max APY* | Lockup |

*Illustrative max = flexible base + fixed-term extra from Nexo earn-page rate objects (flex_rate 3; 90d extra_rate 3; 365d extra_rate 6). NEXO has earn_in_nexo_extra_rate = 0 (no additional “earn in NEXO” bump on itself). Rates vary by region, loyalty tier, balance limits, and app configuration.

Loyalty & Eligibility Checklist
- Opt in to interest / Flexible or Fixed-Term Savings in the Nexo app (required in many jurisdictions).
- Maintain ~$5,000+ portfolio balance in digital assets to unlock Loyalty Program benefits and interest eligibility paths described on Nexo’s site.
- Hold NEXO for tiering — higher NEXO share of portfolio unlocks better savings and borrowing terms; Platinum messaging highlights holding at least 10% of portfolio in NEXO.
- Choose payout asset — for many non-NEXO assets, earning interest in NEXO can add up to +2%; NEXO itself does not stack that extra.
- Optional fixed terms — lock 30–365 days (asset-dependent) for higher APY; early exit rules apply per product T&Cs.
Dividend vs Daily Interest (Quick Compare)
- Old dividend: Periodic, profit-linked, uncertain timing/size, up to 30% of net profit pool.
- Daily interest: Rule-based APY, credited daily, compoundable in-kind, predictable but rate-variable.
- User action needed: Dividends were largely holding-based at record dates; interest requires opt-in + balance rules.

Common Pitfalls
- Expecting a 2026 “Nexo dividend check” — the cash dividend program ended in June 2021.
- Confusing marketing “up to 12–15%” platform-wide headlines with the specific NEXO token APY (flexible base is 3%).
- Missing the $5,000 portfolio threshold or failing to opt in, so balances earn 0%.
- Ignoring fixed-term lockups and early-exit conditions when chasing the 6–9% NEXO bands.
- Treating historical dividend yield as a guaranteed future APY — profit-share and interest are different mechanisms.
